Prejean, the 22-year old Miss California, answered a question from gossip blogger Perez Hilton about same-sex marriage and her beliefs at the Miss USA pageant earlier this month. She answered truthfully, saying that marriage should be between a man and a woman. Afterwards, she was ripped to shreds by the liberal media and Perez Hilton in his blog, calling her a "dumb bi**h." In all honesty, her answer cost her the Miss USA title no matter how you look at it.
The past week Prejean has been ripped to shreds for saying that she is for gay marriage and talk began that she might be losing her crown as Miss Califonia. Donald Trump, the leader of the Miss USA pageant, said that she should keep her crown for speaking her mind.
Kudos to Donald Trump. He definitely got this one right. If you take away her crown for this, you are denying her her First Amendment right to free speech. It is what this count
ry was founded upon, that you could say whatever you want without consequence.What really gets me, though, is that this is the same belief that President Obama and many people on his staff share. Why is noone going after Obama? Why didn't anyone question his opinions, but rather the opinion of a conservative 22-year old? Thats your answer right there. The liberal left wing media made a frenzy by attacking a conservative for coming out and having her say in such a public setting. There is such a double standard going on in todays media, its disgusting. Apparently, liberals can say whatever they want (see Wanda Sykes) and not get in trouble for it, no matter how bad, but if a conservative says something slightly wrong (see David Feherty) the world seems like it will end. What happened to free speech?
FYI, this was not the only political question asked of the finalists. Other topics of choice included bailouts, healthcare for aliens, domestic violence, and donating money to Afghanistan for elections. A pageant shouldn't be political in any way.
