- The most controversial case she ruled on was in the case of Ricci v. DeStefano. In it, she ruled against a group of New Haven, Connecticut, firefighters, who were arguing that the city threw out test scores because too many white firefighters scored high on the exam and not enough minorities. This case has been bumped up to the Supreme Court and will probably be decided in June.
- She has a horrible record on the bench. Of the six decisions that she was a part of that were appealed to the Supreme Court, five were reversed. Let me start over. She successfully won 1 of 6 cases that were appealed to the Supreme Court, for an astounding winning percentage of 16.67%. That should not even be permissible. If you perform that poorly in your normal 9-to-5 job, you won't be working that 9-to-5 job much longer.
- In 1999, she dissented on a decision in which a school sent a black student from 1st grade to Kindergarten halfway through the school year, because she felt that the student was not given an equal chance.
Earlier today, at her appointment, she stated that the judicial branch makes the laws. Ummmm........ Where do I start? This is US Government 101. The legislative branch makes the laws and the judicial branch carries out the laws. And she got this far how?
In the New Haven case, they all took the same test. It's not even a good enough reason to say that the minority firefighters were somehow discriminated against. This is a classic case of the abomination that the Liberals like to call affirmative action. I am strongly against this policy. If I am looking at two candidates, one white who scored 100% on a test and a minority who scored 85%, damn right I'm going to take the white person. The minority had the same opportunity as the white person, but in the end I will always take the one that knows more, whether he be white, black, green, purple, whatever.
In the case in 1999, the plantiff clearly states that he was transferred from 1st grade to Kindergarten because of academic difficulties. Academic difficulties. Nowhere in there do I see race being an issue. The same opportunities are given to everyone. It's the kid's fault if he doesn't do everything he can to reach out and tell someone that he needs help in school.
Overall, I think Sonia Sotomayor is a horrible candidate for the vacant Supreme Court seat. Her track record speaks for itself. And if Barack Obama and the Liberal Congress can't see through that, then this could be a long 25-30 years while Sotomayor is on the Court.
